Tarrytown News 01.29.2021 - Shoveling the Walk, Lifting the Yellow Zone, ESL, and More

(Re-send of News of 1.29)

Shoveling The Walk

Are you aware that after every snow/ice storm the owner or resident are required to have the sidewalk and driveway openings of their property cleared within 18 hours of a storm?  All commercial areas such as retail and neighborhood shopping areas must have their sidewalks and access points (entrance and exiting roadway) cleared of snow following storm. Help prevent trip and falls! You can learn more by reading the Village Code, Section 259-37. Any questions can be directed DPW at 914-631-0356.

Lifting the Yellow Zone & Other COVID Guidance Changes

On January 27, 2021, the Governor of the State of New York announced that all orange zone restrictions and most yellow zone restrictions would be lifted state wide. This included the Village of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow. At this time we are under only other general New York State guidance for COVID-19.

Throughout the week the Governor also announced that "high risk" sports such as football and basketball could resume with local health department approval (no word yet for Westchester, but that information should be forthcoming). Additionally, in March, weddings as large as 150 persons may resume if we stay on the path of reduced infections and reduced hospitalizations.

It is our understanding at this time that restaurants must still close for in person service at 10:00 PM. This was not connected to the yellow zone initiative. If we hear differently we will transmit this to you.

Small Claims

Did you know that you can file small claims matters with the Village of Tarrytown Justice Court? Well you can, but the respondent must have a Tarrytown physical address. Claims can be made up to a maximum of $3,000. Only individuals can sue in the Small Claim part of Civil court, and claims would be against an individual or Company/Business. During the pandemic, we also permit for small claims matters to be heard virtually from the comfort of both parties homes.

Any questions can be directed to the court at 914-631-5215 or courtclerk@tarrytowngov.com
