Zoning Board of Appeals
The Zoning Board of Appeals, comprised of five members and two alternate members, each serving a five year term, usually meets on the second Monday evening of the month. The Board is empowered to review and deliberate on appeals resulting from a determination made by an administrative official. The purpose of this board is to balance the interests of individual property owners with that of Tarrytown and its residents in instances where projects vary from existing zoning requirements.
The deadline for submissions to the Zoning Board is 18 days prior to the meeting date for initial applications and 10 days for all subsequent submissions.
During meetings (which generally last 1 to 3 hours, depending on the number of applications), the board invites public comment on all pending applications, then deliberates on approval or denial of such requests.
Typically, up to 6 applications are covered at each meeting (one meeting per month, 2nd Monday at 7:30 PM). The ZBA is supported by Village Legal counsel and staff liaisons.
