The Tarrytown Link - "Linking You to Your Village"

.gov with blue backgroundNew Domain Name - Whos Dis?

In the very, very near future (October 13th - Tentatively) the Village of Tarrytown will be finally getting is website "virtual checkmark" of approval! The Federal Government only in the past few years began allowing small Villages like ourselves to have a .gov website... this is why for many years our website domain has been Tarrytowngov.com.

We have been approved to migrate over to TarrytownNY.gov (caps not necessary) effective October 13th. Fear not though - tarrytowngov.com will forward to the new website. Board and Staff email "domains" will also change to @TarrytownNY.gov, in due time, as well, but tarrytowngov.com will still function and hold its special place in our world...

VIDEO TOURSVideo Tour & Audio Tour

You may have noticed on the Village's website, there is a new set of "Video Tours" right next to "News & Announcements". These videos are more targeted towards "selling" our Village to prospective new residents, but we invite everyone to take a look. Any feedback on the videos can be submitted to administrator@tarrytowngov.com

Additionally, there are Historic audio walking (or biking/driving tours) for the Village's of Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow and Irvington. Residents new and old can learn something new. Also, a great thing to recommend to anyone coming to visit Tarrytown for pleasure, especially as October is our "busy" tourism season. There are other tours for the bridge, and surrounding communities that you can view here.

United Way 211 Helpline

We wanted to take an opportunity to let residents know about a Non-Profit Helpline that is available to help residents of Westchester County with an array of needs. They can be used for crises of any kind: financial stress, suicidal thoughts, domestic violence, when a housing disaster strikes (flooding, tree falls through home). Just dial "211" from your phone, and you'll be connected with a representative who can help connect you with the resources you need for assistance. This service is available 24/7 and acts as a hub to connect folks with resources they need. You can learn more at https://www.211hudsonvalley.org/

Lights, Camera, Action (Filming!)

New York, Westchester and Tarrytown are extremely film friendly. You have probably seen filming in the downtown area in the past (Gossip Girl, FBI's Most Wanted). Or maybe heard an "explosion" somewhere near Belvedere (Blacklist), or maybe watched the Downton Abbey skit on SNL (Lyndhurst). There is filming going on around town all the time, sometimes on private property, sometimes its very public. We wanted to let residents know how they can participate in the filming craze.

You (yes you!) the private homeowner, can have filming take place at your house. The Westchester Film Office promotes filming all over the County. You can actually place your home on their digital property database, sometimes used by location scouts, by clicking here.

If you have someone actively interested in filming at your property, they will need to fill out a permit with the Village of Tarrytown. We are film friendly here in Tarrytown and get back to those interested very quickly after internal review by Village officials. You or other interested parties are also invited to call the Village Clerk, Krissy Gilligan, at 914-631-1652 to discuss filming projects and ask questions about filming. Just please, submit any requests for filming no earlier than 14 days ahead of time.

One final note, it would be worth your time to review the filming law for Tarrytown if you or a location scout have serious filming projects.

Board of Trustees Round-Up

  • The Village is applying for a grant to upgrade security and other items in the Court.
  • TaSH Farmers Market will be returning for Winter 2022 in Parking Lot D.
