Note about COVID tests

Tarrytown-Link, linking you to your Village

Note about tests

Late yesterday, Westchester County announced that the state had distributed COVID-19 rapid tests, and municipalities could go pick them up for distribution in our community.  Tarrytown’s allotment was 450 kits, enough for roughly 7% of our residents.  In order to address the need for tests after the holiday travel rush and to get these tests to the residents in the village with the greatest need, with particular focus on seniors and on those with medical and health difficulties, the decision was made to issue them on Monday of next week, December 27, 2021.  This decision was derived by Mayor Brown, the Village Administrator and the Police Chief.

Today we have received many requests for the tests.  We realize there is a very severe shortage of the tests, and if they are not available in local pharmacies or in medical facilities, there are simple procedures from the CDC that everyone can follow if they are unable to be tested.  Some simple advice is wear a mask when you cannot be tested.  Stay home if you feel sick.  For more information from the CDC see below.

Quarantine and Isolation

Quarantine if you have been in close contact (within 6 feet of someone for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period) with someone who has COVID-19, unless you have been fully vaccinated. People who are fully vaccinated do NOT need to quarantine after contact with someone who had COVID-19 unless they have symptoms. However, fully vaccinated people should get tested 5-7 days after their exposure, even if they don’t have symptoms and wear a mask indoors in public for 14 days following exposure or until their test result is negative.

We will make more information available to the public on Sunday December 26, 2021.

Be Safe. Be Merry.
