Tarrytown News 2.12.2021 Westchester Mobility Survey, Carpenters Wanted, Info For Seniors - and More!
Westchester County Mobility Survey
We wanted to let the community know that Westchester County is currently undergoing a Mobility study. The goal of the study is as follows
“… to better align the county’s mobility network with the needs of its residents, workers, and visitors. This study will examine the region’s transportation services, demographics, employment trends, mobility conditions, and other factors to understand how well the network matches existing travel needs, and identify opportunities to strengthen it and meet future needs.”
In basic terms – the county wants to understand how people get from Point A to Point B for all kinds of trips (work, grocery, social, etc.). The County is asking residents to take part in their highly interactive survey. This is definitely not your traditional “are you satisfied” survey. Please participate as it will help to shape the future of transit planning and investment in our area moving forward. Survey link: https://app.maptionnaire.com/en/9862/
Carpenters Wanted (UPDATED 2/16/2021)
The Village has a small carpentry job at Village Hall that we’re seeking quotes for. There is buckling wainscoting in the Court Room and Executive Meeting Room that requires repair. If interested, please email Assistant Administrator Josh Ringel at jringel@tarrytowngov.com or call 914-631-1785. Licensed and Insured Carpenters only. Update 2/16: A carpenter has been selected for the job.
Volunteer to Serve
Just because the organizational meeting has passed, residents should still consider volunteering to serve on a Village Board or Council as openings occur at any time. Consider Volunteering today: https://www.tarrytowngov.com/volunteer-to-serve
With your new Work From Home Schedule, perhaps you can take the additional step of volunteering for the Fire Department or Tarrytown Ambulance Core. Volunteerism is alive and well in Tarrytown, and we hope that you’ll consider keeping this tradition alive.
Information for Seniors
In December 2020. Governor Cuomo signed a law to simplify and improve the state's power of attorney form. Effective this coming June, the new form eliminates the gift rider and permits language that “substantially conforms” with the statute rather than the exact wording. It is also more favorable to nursing home residents and those with disabilities. Deepankar Mukerji, chair-elect of the NY State Bar Association’s Elder Law and Special Needs Section will explain the impact, as well as address questions and issues that may remain unclear. Info on the program is below

Food Insecurity Update
Feeding Westchester recently reported that they are still providing DOUBLE the amount of food throughout Westchester as compared to pre-pandemic. Our local food pantry reports that right here at home, things have really ramped up. Pre-pandemic our local pantry was assisting approximately 275 families per month, today that is over 1,000 families. Tarrytown Village Hall (1 Depot Plaza) is actually a food donation location. Hours are 830am-430pm Monday-Friday. Large donations should arrange for delivery directly to the pantry via 914-332-0182.
If you are considering making a donation, please consider donating packaging sizes appropriate for a family of four. While most foods are welcome, they cannot accept baby food, nutritional supplements, opened or expired packages. They also are encouraging the following donations
healthy cereal, plain oatmeal
shelf stable milk
peanut butter
2 lb. bags rice
dried beans
pasta
tuna, sardines
