spotted lanternflyInvasive Species Awareness - Spotted Lanternfly

Well folks, the spotted lanternfly is here. We knew this day would come. Those of us at the Village and on our volunteer committees have been tracking this destructive invasive species. These beasts, while beautiful to some, pose a serious economic threat here in NY as they devastate various crops (apples, hops, various tree species, just to name a few).  Well what can you do? If you think you've spotted this fly, email spottedlanternfly@agriculture.ny.gov and let them know where you saw and at what stage of life (see stages below) and include pictures. You may also read up more on "Spotted Lanternfly Management for Homeowners" to see what you can do in the fight against the fly!
