Tarrytown Link 02.26.2021 - Part-Time Help Wanted, ICYMI, Pop-Up Vaccine Survey, Body Worn Cameras Update and More!

HELP WANTED POSTERPart-Time Help Wanted

The Village is currently hiring for 3 separate positions (combination of part-time and seasonal).

We are hiring for a seasonal mechanic helper in our garage to help catch up with some fleet maintenance work (seasonal=short-term employment). Please email DPW Superintendent Louis Martirano at lmartirano@tarrytowngov.com if you are interested. Learn more about the position.

We are hiring for two temporary parks laborers with a start date of April 6th. These employees will be tasked with helping to keep our Pierson Park and Riverwalk clean and free of invasives. Applicants should submit for this position via our employment application https://tarrytown.seamlessdocs.com/f/jrlqtjomgxdh

When it asks for the position applied for, please input PARKS DEPT TEMP. Learn more about the position here.

These are great opportunities to get exposure to public service and put oneself in position for possible future consideration within the department for full-time work.

ICYMI - Tarrytown Summer Camp Survey

Can you tell we like surveys yet? The Village has issued a Summer Camp Survey with the purpose to gauge overall interest in running the Tarrytown Day Camp this summer. The Camp did not run in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With guidance issued, schools running, testing widely available, and vaccine roll out underway, the Village feels we are possibly in a position to roll out camp for Summer 2021. However, if interest is too limited in the camp, we may choose not to run it in 2021.

Please take the survey even if you do not intend to send your child to our camp or any camp. It will help us tremendously with planning.

SURVEY LINK: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/XT9DXWJ

The Survey is only a handful of questions (even less if you do not intend to use our camp) and should take no more than 3-4 minutes (less if you do not intend to send your child to camp).

Any questions should be submitted to summercamps@tarrytowngov.com

P.S. Don't fret, the pool will be back this summer as it was last (no survey necessary this time!)

THE COVID VACCINE IS HERE - GET THE FACTSPop-up Vaccine Survey

Thank you to all who participated in our survey. In the end we had over 1,960 people to participate (big thank you to those who took the time). You can review the survey results and the comments here. We are working hard to get a pop-up here in Tarrytown... we'll do our best, but no promises. Vaccine supply needs to increase. If you have specific questions regarding the survey, including a further breakdown of the results, please contact Assistant Village Administrator Josh Ringel at jringel@tarrytowngov.com

You may have missed our PSA concerning body cameras back in January. Or even the Hudson River Rescue that showed how the cameras work in action. Well, we wanted to inform the community that the cameras have now fully hit the streets and have been issued to every officer in the Department. For those that are interested in seeing our body camera policy, please stay tuned... we do intend to post that policy, as well as several other key policies of the Tarrytown Police Force in the interest of transparency. For those interested in data, you can review Tarrytown PD Annual Statistics here.

Newsletter Name

After discussing with some folks internally here at the Village, we've decided to (at least temporarily) to rename our bi-weekly news to something more "flashy"... Tarrytown Link. I know, this is huge. But, we  do want it to be catchy (and to the extent that any government newsletter can be) informative AND "fun"... Our newsletter "links" the community together (get it?). Cheesy.
