Storm Closure Updates

FROM WESTCHESTER COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF EMERGENCY SERVICES:

The significant rain fall we are experiencing is causing multiple road closures and other transportation delays across Westchester. The best advice is to avoid travel today if you can do so.

At this time, there are sections of the Bronx River, Saw Mill and Hutchinson River parkways that are closed due to flooding in southern Westchester. More details are below.

The Bee-Line bus system is experiencing delays on Routes 5, 7, 13, 30, 42, 45, 55, 60, and 61.

The Metro-North Commuter Railroad is also experiencing service interruptions on the Harlem, New Haven and Hudson lines.

Specific parkway closings and issues at this time:

  • Bronx River Parkway: closed between NYC and Main Street, White Plains. Significant flooding at Oak Street, Mount Vernon.
  • Hutchinson River Parkway: partial closures between the NYC line and North Avenue, New Rochelle. Significant flooding has occurred at Wolf's Lane in Pelham and East Lincoln Avenue in Mount Vernon.
  • Saw Mill River Parkway: closed from the Cross County Parkway to the NYC line.
  • Cross County Parkway: Partially Closed (Various Sections) Ramps to and from the Hutchinson River Parkway are closed.
  • Sprain Brook Parkway: Partially closed near Grasslands Rd.
  • Playland Parkway: Closed due to flooding
  • Taconic State Parkway: Partially closed in Mt Pleasant
  • I-95 Various Exit Ramps Closed

If you must drive, please do so cautiously and do not drive through any standing water and dot drive any barricades erected to close parkways or local streets. If you do not have to travel today, please don’t don’t.

FROM METRO NORTH:

Metro-North Railroad has been experiencing service disruptions due to flooding. Most notably, flooding in the Bronx has caused us to suspend service between Grand Central Terminal and the Bronx. We also have flooding conditions north of Tarrytown and between North White Plains and Mt. Kisco. A plan to provide return service is being finalized now and we are working to get everyone back home prior to an early shut down of the system.

In order to facilitate this, we are encouraging everyone to start their return trip early. More information to follow shortly.

We continue to ask that our customers avoid travel if possible. If you must head out, allow for extra time and continue to use extra caution and check for service status updates at mta.info.
